For Sampling Hard Bottoms, Sands, Gravel and Clays

Widely used in fresh and salt water for taking samples of hard bottoms such as sand, gravel, consolidated marl or clay. Heavy-duty hinges and hinge pin absorb the impact of thousands of bottom impacts when sampling.
Specifications: Self-closing scoops with center pivot closing action. Underlip wipes clean most pebbles and small cobble so scoops close completely. Removable side plates prevent the lateral loss of sample when closing. Ideal for severe environmental conditions including saltwater use, the Standard Ponar is 9"W x 9"L and weighs 45 lbs. empty. Use with a winch and cable. Made with 316 stainless steel and an 18-8 stainless steel screen. Sample value: 8200mL. The Petite Ponar is much lighter than the Standard Ponar and designed for hand line operation. Measures 6"W x 6"L and weighs 15 lbs. Use with 5/8" or larger line. Sample volume: 2400mL. Constructed of stainless steel with zinc-plated steel arms and weights.
